NEW REP: Getting Started with Avon

GETTING STARTED WITH AVON IS EASY! Let me tell you how!

1) Find Customers!

Start with "Who do you know"!

This is your "warm market" or the people who already know you. This can be simply abbreviated by the acronym "FROGS"...

F = Friends
R = Relatives
O = Occupation (Your co-workers)
G = Geography (Your neighbors)
S = Social  (Any social activities you belong to or people you socialize with)

These are all people who have a personal relationship with you.

Out of these people it is important to choose which 9 people to give your first set of brochures to. You choose your first nine customers by these standards:

1) People who you KNOW will buy from you
2) People who you KNOW will support you and your Avon business
3) People who you KNOW that already love Avon

These people should be your first nine people! If you are interested in being a career Avon representative and starting a team, you will want to use the same... think of which FROGS need extra money. Share your excitement about your new Avon business with them and INVITE them to become an Avon Representative with you!

2) OPEN YOUR AVON STORE! (PRESENT YOUR BROCHURES)

Give your brochures to your nine people! Be sure to keep one for yourself as reference. 

Before you pass them out be sure to add your contact information on your brochure. Be sure to write clearly so your customer can read your name and number correctly. To give the best impression to your customers, you can create labels using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, Wordperfect, or another word processing program. The information you should add to your brochure is:

First and Last Name
Phone Number
Email

an example would be:

Anisa Scott, Avon Independent Sales Rep.
202-573-7575
redefineyourbeauty@yahoo.com

You should also add the date which orders are due but keep in mind if your orders need to be turned in Wednesday before 12 noon, then you should have enough time to put the order in! Your customer order deadline should be Monday so that Tuesday evening you can submit your order.

You may ask why you should do this... because you don't want to be stressed out trying to place your first order Wednesday morning, right! ;)

So that means Wednesday morning you can relax :) 
and Wednesday night you can label your next set of brochures so that Thursday you can give them out to your customers!

HOT IDEA!! Get the MOST use out of your 9 brochures!

Think of people on your list who can order from a single brochure, for example, your coworkers can just pass the one book around to each other!
~OR~
You can ask your customers to give you the brochure back when they give you their order. Then you can give that brochure to another person!

BE SURE TO FOLLOW UP! You are running a business, right? So take control of it!

Don't be afraid to ask your customer a few days before the day you submit your order if they have an order for you. You can simply say something like...

"Hi Anisa! Thank you for taking an Avon brochure from me! I appreciate your support. Do you have an Avon order you would like me to submit this campaign?"

It's just that simple!

You may still be asking, why do you need to follow up when these are people I KNOW will give me an order?

People are very busy these days, it is easy for someone to forget to call you or give you their order. Most likely if you call them, they will go through the book and give you their order then! 

Then what if you have a worst case scenario... they don't want to order anything. NO PROBLEM! Just ask them if there is anything in the book they would like to try and order them a sample! (Even if they don't order this campaign, the sample you give them could get you an order the next campaign!!)

By following up, you are...TAKING CONTROL OF YOUR BUSINESS and your earnings! ;)

3) GROW YOUR CUSTOMER LIST! (RETURN TO YOUR FROG LIST)

Now that your first customers, the ones who you know will order from you, have received their first brochures and given you their first order, (and hopefully you have asked for the brochure back) it's time to pass those nine books to the next set of people who you believe will support you from your FROG list!

You may ask, how can I give them the brochure. Isn't that brochure expired?

No! :)

You can backorder TWO campaigns! That means that if the current Avon campaign is Campaign 17, you can still place orders from Campaigns 16 and 15!

Now that you have identified your second set of FROGS who you feel will help you build your business, it's time to ask the customers who already have give you their order for...

REFERRALS!

Simply tell them, thanks for supporting you and your Avon business! Then ask them if they know of anyone else who would be interested in receiving an Avon brochure. Ask them if they would give you the name and contact information for that person. And if that person places an order, you will give them FREE samples for their referral. (Ask the person who did your appointment or me on how to purchase or earn free samples.)

Imagine! Your customer could refer someone who places a $20 order or more! And all you have to do is give that customer some samples!

4) TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN (TIME TO TAKE THE BEAUTY OF KNOWLEDGE ONLINE COURSES)

Of course, a few days before you submit your order you should be meeting with the person who appointed you as an Avon Rep (and if you don't have one scheduled, please do so as soon as possible) so that you can receive in person training on how to submit your order online through http://www.youravon.com/. However, before then you should REGISTER on http://www.youravon.com/ using your:

Avon Account Number (found on your contract)
Avon District Number (please contact the person who appointed you if you don't have this info.)
Last four of your Social Security Number

Once you register, you should go directly to the "Training" tab and choose "Beauty of Knowledge". There you can take these courses to get you started:

5) SUBMIT YOUR FIRST ORDER

Success!! You should have received your orders from your customers. Did you ask for full payment or at least a 50% deposit?

Here are the reasons why you should ask for a full payment upfront:

     1) Asking for full payment lets you know that your customers are serious about ordering from you.
     2) You don't have to wait to get paid! (The person who appointed you as an Avon Rep should have explained that you will get paid from your customers. If you don't understand how this works please call the person who appointed you or you can call me.)
     3)You will keep your Avon account in good standing! Since your customers will have paid you upfront, once you submit your order you will be able to pay for the products immediately!
BUT, not only will your account be in good standing but this means that the rest of the money is yours to spend!

RECEIVING PAYMENTS

Cash is always best as you can go to the bank and deposit it with ease!

...Did I mention you should consider opening another banking account just for Avon? If you know (please be truthful with yourself), that you might confuse the Avon money as your money and spend it by accident, you should highly think of opening another account.

As far as checks and money orders are concerned please be sure your customer makes it payable to you and NOT Avon. Avon only honors checks written to them by Avon Representatives who have indicated their account number on the check.

As far as debit/credit cards go, you can offer that service if you become an e-representative! Please contact me or the person who appointed you for more information.

WHEN SUBMITTING YOUR FIRST ORDER DON'T FORGET:

To order brochures! The person who appointed you is responsible for making sure you receive the current brochure and the next brochure, but the one after that will need to be ordered with your first order.

For example, 

If you receive Campaign 16 and 17 from the person who appointed you, you will need to order Campaign 18 books with your first order. (Please keep in mind, you will be ordering books for TWO campaigns ahead.)

Please keep in mind that you want your business to continue growing! So instead of 10 brochures, order 20 with your first order! You will have 10 brochures to give to your current customers and 10 more to give to other customers on your FROGS list.


Also be sure to order at least ONE pack of samples so that you can promote an item to your customers the next campaign.

THE WHAT'S NEW BROCHURE:

Be sure to review this brochure before you place your first order. (Please contact me or the person who appointed you if you are missing this item.)

The What's New brochure showcases all of the new products that Avon is coming out with in a particular campaign. Use this brochure to order samples and purchase demostration items (abbreviated "demo") that you can show to your customers to generate sales.

This brochure always provides sales tips and ideas on how to sell certain products Avon is focusing on.

EARNINGS:

When you submit your order online you are guaranteed 40% earnings on any Avon Beauty products ordered (skin care, perfume, lotion, jewelry, makeup, & personal care). You will receive only 20% on non-Avon items (watches, clothes, shoes, purses, home items).

Your 2nd-4th orders you will also receive 40% earnings as long as your order is $50 or more (but of course our goal is for your order to be way more than $50!).

Please note, in order to earn some money with your Avon order you will need to have an order over $100, since as a business owner you are responsible for paying for your brochures, the shipping of your order, and any samples you order.

After your 4th order you will be on the Avon sales tier (which only applies to Avon Beauty products as non-Avon products will always be at a 20% earnings level), which is below:

$1550 or more 50%
$900  - $1549.99     45% earnings
$425  - $899.99       40% earnings
$285  - $424.99       35% earnings
$145  - $284.99       30% earnings
$50    - $144.99       20% earnings
$0      - $49.99           0% earnings

6) RECEIVE AND UNPACK YOUR ORDER

If you submitted your order online BEFORE the 12 noon deadline for your specific order submission day, you will receive your package TWO days later! It will be delivered to your door by courier. 

(The person who appointed you should have explained that the courier company will leave your package at your door if no one answers unless give other instructions. So did you pick a delivery location where you feel comfortable about having your shipment left at the door? If not, and/or if you would like the courier to, for example, ring your doorbell or ask for a signature in order to leave your package, please contact the person who appointed you to have instructions added to your delivery information).

If you submit your order AFTER the 12 noon deadline (which shouldn't happen because being the savvy business owner you are, you already submitted your order the night before ;) )
your order will be delivered by UPS. It will take 3-4 business days for your order to arrive from the day on which you submitted your Avon order.

When you receive your shipment box you will see your products, brochures, What's New brochures, supplies, and training tools. However, the first thing you should look for is your invoice. You will want to double check that all of the products you ordered are in your box. (If items are missing, please contact me or the person who appointed you.)
Package up each order in the bags provided, along with your customer's receipt, a brochure (if you haven't given them one already), a sample, a personal thank you note, and a recruiting flyer (please ask me or the person who appointed you about the recruiting flyer.)


7) SCHEDULE DELIVERY

Now that everything is packed and ready for delivery, it's time to call your customers to schedule delivery!

If you decided to offer the 50% deposit to your customer(s) and 50% when order arrives, you will need to let them know the balance so they can be prepared for delivery.

When you deliver the order, please remember to give them a heartfelt thank you for their order and to give them the sample you purchased in their hands. You will want to tell your customer about the sample, why you picked it, and why you think they will like it. Be sure to be enthusiatic! If your customer sees you are excited about a product they will be more likely to order it!


8) PAY YOUR AVON ACCOUNT

This only goes for those who decided to do the 50% deposit and 50% with order for their customers. Remember, if you collected the money upfront, you were able to pay for your products as soon as you submitted your Avon order!

Log on to http://www.youravon.com/, click "My Account", then "Pay Avon" and pay your balance!

Please note that Avon will not send you your next order until your balance is paid.


9) IT'S JUST THAT EASY!

Simple, right? So be sure to tell the FROGS that you know need extra money about your Avon experiences so far and INVITE them to join you as an Avon Representative!

...and be sure to ask me or the person who appointed you about the check bonuses you can receive for inviting others to become Avon Representatives!
